Who we are
Modern - Human is a publication of PURPOSE Life Coaching & Consulting Ltd, which is the data controller for the information described in this policy.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at Ella@purpose-lifecoaching.com, or by post at 2 Invicta Park, Sandpit Road, Dartford DA1 5BU. Company registration details are on our Terms and Advisory page.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZC259939.
What we collect and why
We only ask for information you choose to give us. There are three places on this site where that happens.
- Subscribing. We collect your email address so we can send you occasional emails about new articles, live sessions and Community events.
- Registering for a session. We collect your name and email address so we can send you the joining details and anything else you need in order to take part. If you tick the box asking for occasional emails, we also add you to the list described above.
- Getting in touch. If you email us, we hold your message and your email address so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.
Live sessions are held on a video meeting platform and may be recorded. A recording can capture your name, and your voice or image if you choose to speak or turn your camera on. You can take part with your camera off and stay unnamed if you prefer. The platform for a given session is named in the joining details we send you.
We also collect anonymous information about how the site is used, which is covered in the cookies and analytics section below.
We do not ask for, and do not want, any health information from you. Please do not send us health details when you register for a session.
Our lawful basis
Where we send you marketing emails, our basis is your consent. You gave that consent by subscribing or by ticking the box on a registration form, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Where we handle your registration for a session, our basis is taking steps at your request so that you can attend.
Where we reply to an email you have sent us, our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers to run this site. Each of them handles your information only in order to provide their service to us.
- Netlify. Hosts this website and receives session registrations. Netlify is based in the United States.
- Kit. Holds the subscriber list and sends our emails. If you subscribe, your email address is stored with Kit, which is based in the United States. Every email we send through them carries an unsubscribe link.
- Google Analytics. Provides anonymous statistics about how the site is used. See the cookies and analytics section below.
- Video meeting platforms. Live sessions run on an established platform such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. We name the one being used when we send your joining details, and your use of it is also covered by that provider's own privacy policy.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Information leaving the UK
Some of the providers above are based outside the United Kingdom, mainly in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, including the UK extension to the EU to US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
If you subscribe, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
If you register for a session, we keep your registration for twelve months after the session, so that we have a record of who attended. After that we delete it.
Where a session is recorded, the recording is available for seven days after the session and is then deleted.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful to the conversation, and then delete it.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they are in the world. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device in order to do this. These cookies are set by Google and are used to distinguish one visitor from another and to measure how the site is used over time.
These are not essential to the running of the site. If you do not want them, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt out browser add on.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what information we hold about you and receive a copy of it
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict or stop using it
- ask us to transfer it to you or to someone else
- object to our use of it
- withdraw your consent at any time, which will not affect anything we did before you withdrew it
To use any of these rights, email Ella@purpose-lifecoaching.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Every marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link. One click is enough, and you do not need to give a reason.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the date at the top of the page. Where the change is significant, we will say so in an email to anyone on our list.
