How it ends depends largely on where you sit in the structure. For some, access is revoked immediately. For others, there is gardening leave, a privileged space of panic and stress, or relaxation and pivots.
Not everyone who builds a portfolio career chose it first. For some it followed a redundancy. For others it is a deliberate decision, whether that is early in a career or at a mid-career pivot.
There has been a noticeable rise in organised social experiences. Run clubs, supper clubs, games nights, communal dining. At first glance it looks like trend culture. Underneath it is something more revealing.
People are spending more time at home. Weekends are being protected more carefully. Plans are declined more easily. Most of this is framed positively. The question is what it gradually removes.
